Club football is back and United face an interesting match against Stoke City, who have not exactly been in great form this season.
Mind you, United have been exceptionally lucky to get themselves second in the league. A series of poor performances has lead up to this game that we really should get all three points in.
I predict David De Gea will get a recall despite a series of below par performances. The defence picks itself. Nani has been is shocking form and so I think we’ll opt for a 4-3-3 formation (which I am dead set against, by the way) with Rooney and Valencia on the wings supported in the middle by Carrick, Scholes and Kagawa.
If I could pick, I would have Cleverley and Anderson but I don’t think they will get the nod this week. After a couple of terrible games, I’ll be surprised if Giggs gets considered for the first team in the PL again.
Stoke have aerial threat in Peter Crouch, but aren’t the impressive team they were when they were promoted a few seasons ago. We should get the win fairly comfortably, I think.
Stoke are currently 12th with only one win all season, so they’re hardly going to be a huge threat going forwards. Therefore, it’s quite convenient that our shaky defence has occured for this game. Hopefully, Chris Smalling will be fit again soon to challenge Rio and Jonny and we’ll start to put this title charge in action.
Prediction: 2-0 to United
